TEAMCENTER / Efficient data management
The Teamcenter system creates an end-to-end work environment for all company departments. Full integration of employees and the data on which they have to work ensures consistency and uniformity of information. It is a PLM system, which means that it manages the entire product lifecycle, from concept or request for quotation to product service and disposal.
Consistent data source
Storing data on the server eliminates the possibility of errors resulting from working on outdated or incomplete data. The mechanisms used in the Teamcenter system mean that everyone uses the same files, and copies made by users are only shortcuts to individual files. This approach eliminates the possibility of creating duplicate data.
Regardless of which CAD application the models come from, it is easy to view, measure and add comments to the model and drawing. It is not necessary to have any CAD application to do this, because Teamcenter always creates a JT visualization file for each model. Even flat drawings are available and can be printed.
Easy access to data
Every Teamcenter user can quickly log into the system and, regardless of the program they are using, retrieve the data they need. It is always possible to see who used the files, when, and what changes were made.
A variety of access interfaces
Every Teamcenter user can quickly log in to the system and, depending on their needs, they can use an installed client application, a web browser or a CAD or MS Office application. Each of these applications is directly integrated into the management system.
Extensive descriptive data
The structure of the Teamcenter data model provides the possibility to use a lot of additional information associated with polycodes, which makes it easier to search and catalogue information. You can also have other related data - such as strength analyses, model images or NC programs - in one place in addition to CAD files.
Scalability of the solution
Teamcenter allows you to adapt the solution to your company's specific needs. Depending on your needs, you can focus, for example, only on managing the design office or project scheduling, or integrate all departments in one comprehensive working environment.
In addition to standard functionalities, the system provides the possibility to integrate advanced tools dedicated to specific applications. An example may be the management of technological processes, servicing, materials management, simulations, construction variants or creation of various types of technical documentation.
In addition to working at one company location, it often happens that the company has various branches in other cities or countries. The Teamcenter system has dedicated tools for effective work on such distributed data. All servers can be synchronized and the data is available to individual branches.
Integration with other systems

There is a module for integration with the SAP system available directly. It enables the creation of an automatic data exchange during product approval. Information on status and material lists can be synchronised with the ERP system. Other systems can also be linked to Teamcenter, for example by means of data exchange via XML format.
All of today's major CAD programs have modules for integration into Teamcenter. This provides automatic previews of models and drawings in the system for people who do not have the program in which they were created. The files are directly saved on the server and are therefore also immediately visible to authorised users. Regardless of which workstation the designer is working on, he always has access to the same data, in the same locations. CAM data can also be stored and, for example, integration with E-CAD programs can be used.
The basic functionality of the management system is to protect data from access by persons without appropriate rights. In the Teamcenter system, data is stored on a server to which no user has direct access. Everything is done through a dedicated interface that controls access to data.
Users working in the system have specific roles and belong to specific groups. In order to facilitate the management of permissions, they are not rigidly defined for a particular user, but they are the sum of the permissions of his role and the group to which he belongs. Privileges can be defined in great detail in a transparent environment for the administrator, making them dynamically dependent on, for example, changing document statuses.
All files in the system are revised. This means that if any file has been approved and can no longer be modified, a new revision is created, which after approval will be the current version. Of course only approved revisions should always be visible in production, the others are development or archive versions, which can be accessed by design, technology or service departments.
All persons working together on a project have access to the same data. There is no need to copy files locally and then analyse which ones are up to date. Regardless of the CAD application, Teamcenter manages access to data, making sure that files cannot be overwritten. The first person to download a file for editing blocks others from modifying it, while everyone else can use it in read-only mode at all times. All changes are immediately visible to the entire project group.

Project schedule management
Every project should have a defined schedule according to which it is carried out. In Teamcenter you can build a project schedule by assigning individual tasks to specific users. During its execution and the completion of individual tasks, you can see the progress of work and the manager can analyse whether the project is likely to be completed on time and within budget. By creating a schedule template, the cost of the entire project can be estimated at the outset, including various cost baskets.
Electronic information flow processes
Teamcenter has a built-in mechanism for automating the execution of task processes. Each template can have both tasks to be executed and blocks to control the work. If a person or department needs to be informed about the status of work, the information block can also be included in the process template. It is also possible to be notified by email when a task is received for completion in the Teamcenter system.
Change card electronic process
Teamcenter's built-in change card mechanism automates and simplifies the creation of documentation changes at every stage of the product lifecycle. There is no need to create separate change request, change order and change occurrence notification documents. The process is automated and all these steps are included in the template. An important feature is that at any time you can see which models/drawings were there before the change, which were there after the change and which were newly created.
Product structure management
When building product structures, it is possible to use construction variants, i.e. build an assembly that has all construction variants. This approach makes it easy to add more components and make their appearance dependent on specific product parameters.
In a Teamcenter project structure, you can bundle CAD data from different applications while retaining the ability to view the entire product. Data can also be used by other programs without conversion - for example, working together in NX and Solid Edge on the same project, where some files are saved in native Solid Edge formats and some in NX.

Link creation data and document management to product development. CAD data can be inserted directly into documents and automatically updated, including technical publications in SGML/XML publishing tools.
Creation of material lists, with the possibility of using configurations and construction variants. Not only data from CAD applications, but also data from other programs, e.g. ECAD, can be combined in the product structure.
PLM Process Execution
Running information circulation processes, with assigning appropriate resources to tasks. This enables effective control of processes in the company, ensuring the flow of information from planning through design to the manufacture of products.

Another module in which data which are already managed and shared in the system can be extended with further functionalities.
Management of product requirements. Based on customer requirements, a requirements structure is built which can be linked to individual details or products, facilitating product design and verification.
Service Lifecycle Management
Data management for both logistics and service departments. The structures of products which have been physically sent to the customer are stored here and the service department always has the complete structure of a product with a given serial number.
Manufacturing Process Management
Production data management in connection with Tecnomatix. Data on the manufacturing process, assembly and the resources required for the technological operations are available in a single environment.

TEAMCENTER License Packages
Every Teamcenter user must have an access license for the system. These are assigned to a specific system user.
A license that allows access to the system with the ability to add new files, edit data, search and view data.
A license that allows access to the system with the ability to search and view data, without the ability to edit or add new files.
Application licenses are assigned to a specific user. Examples of the most commonly used licenses below:
Schedule Manager User
This license allows you to create project schedules, participate in schedule tasks execution and create schedule report views.
This license allows you to create part classifications, i.e. electronic versions of product/part/component catalogues, in a dynamically modifiable data structure.
Licenses for integration with CAD/CAM/CAE systems
Integration licenses are floating licenses and their number depends on the number of licenses of the integrated applications. Examples of the most commonly used licenses are shown below:
Solid Edge Embedded Client
This license allows direct access from the Solid Edge application to the Teamcenter system, searching for data, saving models and drawings and creating JT preview files.
NX Embedded Client
This license allows direct access from NX applications to the Teamcenter system, searching for data, saving models and drawings and creating JT preview files.
This license allows direct access from SolidWorks applications to the Teamcenter system, searching for data, saving models and drawings. Generates JT files together with the corresponding translator.
This license allows direct access from SolidWorks applications to the Teamcenter system, searching for data, saving models and drawings. Generates JT files with the appropriate translator.
A basic visualization license (Base) is available in each access license. It allows you to view documentation and make basic measurements and comments. If additional functionalities are required (translations, advanced measurement and commenting, structure editing, etc.), the visualisation level can be changed to a higher one. These licences are assigned to the user.
Some licences have functionality available to all users and allow the tools to be used by all users or add new functionality to the system.
